^6 (A)If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer.

¹⁰ Therefore ^(A)I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain ^(B)the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with ^(C)eternal glory.

^4 (A)who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

¹⁵ For ^(A)it is all for your sake, so that as ^(B)grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, ^(C)to the glory of God.

¹⁶ So we do not lose heart. ^(D)Though our outer self^[a] is wasting away, ^(E)our inner self ^(F)is being renewed day by day. ¹⁷ For ^(G)this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, ^18 (H)as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

¹⁹ for I know that ^(A)through your prayers and ^(B)the help of ^(C)the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance,

⁵ He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, ^(A)who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.

²⁸ And we know that for those who love God all things work together ^(A)for good,^[a] for ^(B)those who are called according to his purpose.

¹³ So I ask you not to lose heart over what I am suffering ^(A)for you, ^(B)which is your glory.

¹⁰ For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, ^(A)that we may share his holiness. ^11 (B)For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields ^(C)the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
