2 Und Salomo gedachte zu bauen ein Haus dem Namen des HERRN und ein Haus seines Königreichs.
2 Und Salomo zählte ab siebzigtausend, die da Last trugen, und achtzigtausend, die da Steine hieben auf dem Berge, und dreitausend und sechshundert Aufseher über sie.
3 Und Salomo sandte zu Huram, dem König zu Tyrus, und ließ ihm sagen: Wie du mit meinem Vater David tatest und ihm sandtest Zedern, daß er sich ein Haus baute, darin er wohnte.
4 Siehe, ich will dem Namen des HERRN, meines Gottes, ein Haus bauen, das ihm geheiligt werde, gutes Räuchwerk vor ihm zu räuchern und Schaubrote allewege zuzurichten und Brandopfer des Morgens und des Abends auf die Sabbate und Neumonde und auf die Feste des HERRN, unsers Gottes, ewiglich für Israel.
5 Und das Haus, das ich bauen will soll groß sein; denn unser Gott ist größer als alle Götter.
6 Aber wer vermag's, daß er ihm ein Haus baue? denn der Himmel und aller Himmel Himmel können ihn nicht fassen. Wer sollte ich denn sein, daß ich ihm ein Haus baute? es sei denn um vor ihm zu räuchern.
7 So sende mir nun einen weisen Mann, zu arbeiten mit Gold, Silber, Erz, Eisen, rotem Purpur, Scharlach und blauem Purpur und der da wisse einzugraben mit den Weisen, die bei mir sind in Juda und Jerusalem, welche mein Vater David bestellt hat.
8 Und sende mir Zedern-,Tannen-und Sandelholz vom Libanon; denn ich weiß, daß deine Knechte das Holz zu hauen wissen auf dem Libanon. Und siehe, meine Knechte sollen mit deinen Knechten sein,
9 daß man mir viel Holz zubereite; denn das Haus, das ich bauen will, soll groß und sonderlich sein.
10 Und siehe, ich will den Zimmerleuten, deinen Knechten, die das Holz hauen, zwanzigtausend Kor Gerste und zwanzigtausend Kor Weizen und zwanzigtausend Bath Wein und zwanzigtausend Bath Öl geben.
11 Da sprach Huram, der König zu Tyrus, durch Schrift und sandte zu Salomo: Darum daß der HERR sein Volk liebt, hat er dich über sie zum König gemacht.
12 Und Huram sprach weiter: Gelobt sei der HERR, der Gott Israels, der da Himmel und Erde gemacht hat, daß er dem König David hat einen weisen, klugen und verständigen Sohn gegeben, der dem HERRN ein Haus baue und ein Haus seines Königreichs.
13 So sende ich nun einen weisen Mann, der Verstand hat, Huram, meinen Meister
14 (der ein Sohn ist eines Weibes aus den Töchtern Dans, und dessen Vater ein Tyrer gewesen ist); der weiß zu arbeiten an Gold, Silber, Erz, Eisen, Steinen, Holz, rotem und blauem Purpur, köstlicher weißer Leinwand und Scharlach und einzugraben allerlei und allerlei kunstreich zu machen, was man ihm aufgibt, mit deinen Weisen und mit den Weisen meines Herrn, des Königs Davids, deines Vaters.
15 So sende nun mein Herr Weizen, Gerste, Öl und Wein seinen Knechten, wie er geredet hat;
16 so wollen wir das Holz hauen auf dem Libanon, wieviel es not ist, und wollen's auf Flößen bringen im Meer gen Japho; von da magst du es hinauf gen Jerusalem bringen.
17 Und Salomo zählte alle Fremdlinge im Lande Israel nach dem, daß David, sein Vater, sie gezählt hatte; und wurden gefunden hundert und fünfzigtausend dreitausend und sechshundert.
18 Und er machte aus denselben siebzigtausend Träger und achtzigtausend Hauer auf dem Berge und dreitausend sechshundert Aufseher, die das Volk zum Dienst anhielten.

2 Und Salomo gedachte, dem Namen des Herrn ein Haus zu bauen und ein Haus als seine königliche Residenz[a].
2 Und Salomo zählte 70 000 Lastträger ab und 80 000 Steinhauer im Bergland und 3 600 Aufseher über sie.
3 Und Salomo sandte zu Huram, dem König von Tyrus, und ließ ihm sagen: Wie damals, als du meinem Vater David Zedern geliefert hast, damit er sich ein Haus bauen konnte, um darin zu wohnen [— so mache es auch mit mir].
4 Siehe, ich will dem Namen des Herrn, meines Gottes, ein Haus bauen, um es ihm zu weihen, um wohlriechendes Räucherwerk vor ihm zu räuchern und allezeit Schaubrote zuzurichten und Brandopfer zu opfern, am Morgen und am Abend, an den Sabbaten und Neumonden und an den Festen des Herrn, unseres Gottes. Dies ist Israels Pflicht auf ewig.
5 Das Haus aber, das ich bauen will, soll groß sein; denn unser Gott ist größer als alle Götter.
6 Aber wer kann ihm ein Haus bauen? Denn der Himmel und aller Himmel Himmel können ihn nicht fassen; und wer bin ich, dass ich ihm ein Haus baue, es sei denn, um vor ihm zu räuchern?
7 So sende mir nun einen weisen Mann, der mit Gold, Silber, Erz, Eisen, rotem Purpur, Karmesin und blauem Purpur zu arbeiten versteht und geschickt ist in Schnitzarbeiten[b], damit er zusammenarbeite mit den Kunsthandwerkern, die bei mir in Juda und Jerusalem sind, die mein Vater David eingesetzt hat.
8 Und sende mir Zedern-, Zypressen- und Sandelholz vom Libanon; denn ich weiß, dass deine Knechte es verstehen, die Bäume auf dem Libanon zu fällen. Und siehe, meine Knechte sollen mit deinen Knechten sein,
9 damit man mir viel Holz zurichtet; denn das Haus, das ich bauen will, soll groß und wunderbar sein.
10 Und siehe, ich will den Zimmerleuten, deinen Knechten, die das Holz hauen, 20 000 Kor[c] ausgedroschenen Weizen geben, 20 000 Kor Gerste, 20 000 Bat[d] Wein und 20 000 Bat Öl.
11 Da antwortete Huram, der König von Tyrus, schriftlich und ließ Salomo sagen: Weil der Herr sein Volk liebt, hat er dich zum König über sie gemacht.
12 Und Huram sprach weiter: Gelobt sei der Herr, der Gott Israels, der Himmel und Erde gemacht hat, dass er dem König David einen weisen Sohn gegeben hat, der so einsichtig und verständig ist, dass er dem Herrn ein Haus bauen kann und für sich selbst ein Haus als königliche Residenz!
13 So sende ich nun einen weisen und verständigen Mann, Huram-Abi;
14 er ist der Sohn einer Frau aus den Töchtern Dans, und sein Vater ist ein Tyrer.[e] Der weiß mit Gold, Silber, Erz, Eisen, Stein und Holz, mit rotem und blauem Purpur, mit feinem Leinen und mit Karmesin zu arbeiten und versteht alle Arten von Schnitzwerk und weiß jedes Kunstwerk, das ihm aufgegeben wird, auszuführen mithilfe deiner Meister und der Meister meines Herrn David, deines Vaters.
15 So wolle nun mein Herr seinen Knechten den Weizen, die Gerste, das Öl und den Wein senden, wie er versprochen hat;
16 und wir werden das Holz auf dem Libanon hauen, so viel du benötigst, und es dir als Flöße auf dem Meer nach Japho bringen, von wo du es nach Jerusalem hinaufschaffen kannst!
17 Und Salomo zählte alle Fremdlinge im Land Israel, nachdem schon sein Vater David eine Zählung durchgeführt hatte, und es wurden 153 600 gefunden.
18 Von diesen machte er 70 000 zu Lastträgern und 80 000 zu Steinhauern im Bergland und 3 600 zu Aufsehern, die das Volk zur Arbeit anzuhalten hatten.

Preparations for Building the Temple(A)
2 [a]Solomon gave orders to build a temple(B) for the Name of the Lord and a royal palace for himself.(C) 2 He conscripted 70,000 men as carriers and 80,000 as stonecutters in the hills and 3,600 as foremen over them.(D)
3 Solomon sent this message to Hiram[b](E) king of Tyre:
“Send me cedar logs(F) as you did for my father David when you sent him cedar to build a palace to live in. 4 Now I am about to build a temple(G) for the Name of the Lord my God and to dedicate it to him for burning fragrant incense(H) before him, for setting out the consecrated bread(I) regularly, and for making burnt offerings(J) every morning and evening and on the Sabbaths,(K) at the New Moons(L) and at the appointed festivals of the Lord our God. This is a lasting ordinance for Israel.
5 “The temple I am going to build will be great,(M) because our God is greater than all other gods.(N) 6 But who is able to build a temple for him, since the heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain him?(O) Who then am I(P) to build a temple for him, except as a place to burn sacrifices before him?
7 “Send me, therefore, a man skilled to work in gold and silver, bronze and iron, and in purple, crimson and blue yarn, and experienced in the art of engraving, to work in Judah and Jerusalem with my skilled workers,(Q) whom my father David provided.
8 “Send me also cedar, juniper and algum[c] logs from Lebanon, for I know that your servants are skilled in cutting timber there. My servants will work with yours 9 to provide me with plenty of lumber, because the temple I build must be large and magnificent. 10 I will give your servants, the woodsmen who cut the timber, twenty thousand cors[d] of ground wheat, twenty thousand cors[e] of barley, twenty thousand baths[f] of wine and twenty thousand baths of olive oil.(R)”
11 Hiram king of Tyre replied by letter to Solomon:
“Because the Lord loves(S) his people, he has made you their king.”
12 And Hiram added:
“Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, who made heaven and earth!(T) He has given King David a wise son, endowed with intelligence and discernment, who will build a temple for the Lord and a palace for himself.
13 “I am sending you Huram-Abi,(U) a man of great skill, 14 whose mother was from Dan(V) and whose father was from Tyre. He is trained(W) to work in gold and silver, bronze and iron, stone and wood, and with purple and blue(X) and crimson yarn and fine linen. He is experienced in all kinds of engraving and can execute any design given to him. He will work with your skilled workers and with those of my lord, David your father.
15 “Now let my lord send his servants the wheat and barley and the olive oil(Y) and wine he promised, 16 and we will cut all the logs from Lebanon that you need and will float them as rafts by sea down to Joppa.(Z) You can then take them up to Jerusalem.”
17 Solomon took a census of all the foreigners(AA) residing in Israel, after the census(AB) his father David had taken; and they were found to be 153,600. 18 He assigned(AC) 70,000 of them to be carriers and 80,000 to be stonecutters in the hills, with 3,600 foremen over them to keep the people working.

2 And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the Lord, and an house for his kingdom.
2 And Solomon told out threescore and ten thousand men to bear burdens, and fourscore thousand to hew in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred to oversee them.
3 And Solomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, As thou didst deal with David my father, and didst send him cedars to build him an house to dwell therein, even so deal with me.
4 Behold, I build an house to the name of the Lord my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the Lord our God. This is an ordinance for ever to Israel.
5 And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods.
6 But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?
7 Send me now therefore a man cunning to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and that can skill to grave with the cunning men that are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father did provide.
8 Send me also cedar trees, fir trees, and algum trees, out of Lebanon: for I know that thy servants can skill to cut timber in Lebanon; and, behold, my servants shall be with thy servants,
9 Even to prepare me timber in abundance: for the house which I am about to build shall be wonderful great.
10 And, behold, I will give to thy servants, the hewers that cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil.
11 Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because the Lord hath loved his people, he hath made thee king over them.
12 Huram said moreover, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son, endued with prudence and understanding, that might build an house for the Lord, and an house for his kingdom.
13 And now I have sent a cunning man, endued with understanding, of Huram my father's,
14 The son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, and his father was a man of Tyre, skilful to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in crimson; also to grave any manner of graving, and to find out every device which shall be put to him, with thy cunning men, and with the cunning men of my lord David thy father.
15 Now therefore the wheat, and the barley, the oil, and the wine, which my lord hath spoken of, let him send unto his servants:
16 And we will cut wood out of Lebanon, as much as thou shalt need: and we will bring it to thee in floats by sea to Joppa; and thou shalt carry it up to Jerusalem.
17 And Solomon numbered all the strangers that were in the land of Israel, after the numbering wherewith David his father had numbered them; and they were found an hundred and fifty thousand and three thousand and six hundred.
18 And he set threescore and ten thousand of them to be bearers of burdens, and fourscore thousand to be hewers in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred overseers to set the people a work.
