32 After these things, and the establishment thereof, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, and entered into Judah, and encamped against the fenced cities, and thought to win them for himself.
2 And when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib was come, and that he was purposed to fight against Jerusalem,
3 He took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the fountains which were without the city: and they did help him.
4 So there was gathered much people together, who stopped all the fountains, and the brook that ran through the midst of the land, saying, Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water?
5 Also he strengthened himself, and built up all the wall that was broken, and raised it up to the towers, and another wall without, and repaired Millo in the city of David, and made darts and shields in abundance.
6 And he set captains of war over the people, and gathered them together to him in the street of the gate of the city, and spake comfortably to them, saying,
7 Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him:
8 With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
9 After this did Sennacherib king of Assyria send his servants to Jerusalem, (but he himself laid siege against Lachish, and all his power with him,) unto Hezekiah king of Judah, and unto all Judah that were at Jerusalem, saying,
10 Thus saith Sennacherib king of Assyria, Whereon do ye trust, that ye abide in the siege in Jerusalem?
11 Doth not Hezekiah persuade you to give over yourselves to die by famine and by thirst, saying, The Lord our God shall deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
12 Hath not the same Hezekiah taken away his high places and his altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall worship before one altar, and burn incense upon it?
13 Know ye not what I and my fathers have done unto all the people of other lands? were the gods of the nations of those lands any ways able to deliver their lands out of mine hand?
14 Who was there among all the gods of those nations that my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of mine hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of mine hand?
15 Now therefore let not Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you on this manner, neither yet believe him: for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of mine hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: how much less shall your God deliver you out of mine hand?
16 And his servants spake yet more against the Lord God, and against his servant Hezekiah.
17 He wrote also letters to rail on the Lord God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, As the gods of the nations of other lands have not delivered their people out of mine hand, so shall not the God of Hezekiah deliver his people out of mine hand.
18 Then they cried with a loud voice in the Jews' speech unto the people of Jerusalem that were on the wall, to affright them, and to trouble them; that they might take the city.
19 And they spake against the God of Jerusalem, as against the gods of the people of the earth, which were the work of the hands of man.
20 And for this cause Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz, prayed and cried to heaven.
21 And the Lord sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he was come into the house of his god, they that came forth of his own bowels slew him there with the sword.
22 Thus the Lord saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all other, and guided them on every side.
23 And many brought gifts unto the Lord to Jerusalem, and presents to Hezekiah king of Judah: so that he was magnified in the sight of all nations from thenceforth.
24 In those days Hezekiah was sick to the death, and prayed unto the Lord: and he spake unto him, and he gave him a sign.
25 But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit done unto him; for his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem.
26 Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the Lord came not upon them in the days of Hezekiah.
27 And Hezekiah had exceeding much riches and honour: and he made himself treasuries for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all manner of pleasant jewels;
28 Storehouses also for the increase of corn, and wine, and oil; and stalls for all manner of beasts, and cotes for flocks.
29 Moreover he provided him cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance: for God had given him substance very much.
30 This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper watercourse of Gihon, and brought it straight down to the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all his works.
31 Howbeit in the business of the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent unto him to enquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart.
32 Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and his goodness, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, and in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
33 And Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the chiefest of the sepulchres of the sons of David: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem did him honour at his death. And Manasseh his son reigned in his stead.

32 Some time later after this good work of King Hezekiah, King Sennacherib of Assyria invaded Judah and laid siege to the fortified cities, planning to place them under tribute. 2 When it was clear that Sennacherib was intending to attack Jerusalem, 3 Hezekiah summoned his princes and officers for a council of war, and it was decided to plug the springs outside the city. 4 They organized a huge work crew to block them and to cut off the brook running through the fields.
“Why should the king of Assyria come and find water?” they asked.
5 Then Hezekiah further strengthened his defenses by repairing the wall wherever it was broken down, and by adding to the fortifications, and constructing a second wall outside it. He also reinforced Fort Millo in the City of David and manufactured large numbers of weapons and shields. 6 He recruited an army and appointed officers, and summoned them to the plains before the city, and encouraged them with this address:
7 “Be strong, be brave, and do not be afraid of the king of Assyria or his mighty army, for there is someone with us who is far greater than he is! 8 He has a great army, but they are all mere men, while we have the Lord our God to fight our battles for us!” This greatly encouraged them.
9 Then King Sennacherib of Assyria, while still besieging the city of Lachish, sent ambassadors with this message to King Hezekiah and the citizens of Jerusalem:
10 “King Sennacherib of Assyria asks, ‘Do you think you can survive my siege of Jerusalem? 11 King Hezekiah is trying to persuade you to commit suicide by staying there—to die by famine and thirst—while he promises that “the Lord our God will deliver us from the king of Assyria”! 12 Don’t you realize that Hezekiah is the very person who destroyed all the idols, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem to use only the one altar at the Temple, and to burn incense upon it alone? 13 Don’t you realize that I and the other kings of Assyria before me have never yet failed to conquer a nation we attacked? The gods of those nations weren’t able to do a thing to save their lands! 14 Name just one time when anyone, anywhere, was able to resist us successfully. What makes you think your God can do any better? 15 Don’t let Hezekiah fool you! Don’t believe him. I say it again—no god of any nation has ever yet been able to rescue his people from me or my ancestors; how much less your God!’” 16 Thus the ambassador mocked the Lord God and God’s servant Hezekiah, heaping up insults.
17 King Sennacherib also sent letters scorning the Lord God of Israel.
“The gods of all the other nations failed to save their people from my hand, and the God of Hezekiah will fail too,” he wrote.
18 The messengers who brought the letters shouted threats in the Jewish language to the people gathered on the walls of the city, trying to frighten and dishearten them. 19 These messengers talked about the God of Jerusalem just as though he were one of the heathen gods—a handmade idol!
20 Then King Hezekiah and Isaiah the prophet (son of Amoz) cried out in prayer to God in heaven, 21 and the Lord sent an angel who destroyed the Assyrian army with all its officers and generals! So Sennacherib returned home in deep shame to his own land. And when he arrived at the temple of his god, some of his own sons killed him there. 22 That is how the Lord saved Hezekiah and the people of Jerusalem. And now there was peace at last throughout his realm.
23 From then on King Hezekiah became immensely respected among the surrounding nations, and many gifts for the Lord arrived at Jerusalem, with valuable presents for King Hezekiah too.
24 But about that time Hezekiah became deathly sick, and he prayed to the Lord, and the Lord replied with a miracle. 25 However, Hezekiah didn’t respond with true thanksgiving and praise for he had become proud, and so the anger of God was upon him and upon Judah and Jerusalem. 26 But finally Hezekiah and the residents of Jerusalem humbled themselves, so the wrath of the Lord did not fall upon them during Hezekiah’s lifetime.
27 So Hezekiah became very wealthy and was highly honored. He had to construct special treasury buildings for his silver, gold, precious stones, and spices, and for his shields and gold bowls. 28-29 He also built many storehouses for his grain, new wine, and olive oil, with many stalls for his animals and folds for the great flocks of sheep and goats he purchased; and he acquired many towns, for God had given him great wealth. 30 He dammed up Gihon’s Upper Spring and brought the water down through an aqueduct to the west side of the City of David sector in Jerusalem. He prospered in everything he did.
31 However, when ambassadors arrived from Babylon to find out about the miracle of his being healed, God left him to himself in order to test him and to see what he was really like.
32 The rest of the story of Hezekiah and all of the good things he did are written in The Book of Isaiah (the prophet, the son of Amoz), and in The Annals of the Kings of Judah and Israel. 33 When Hezekiah died, he was buried in the royal hillside cemetery among the other kings, and all Judah and Jerusalem honored him at his death. Then his son Manasseh became the new king.

32 Sedan han hade utfört detta och bevisat sådan trohet, kom Sanherib, konungen i Assyrien, och drog in i Juda och belägrade dess befästa städer och tänkte erövra dem åt sig.
2 Då nu Hiskia såg att Sanherib kom, i avsikt att belägra Jerusalem,

7 »Varen frimodiga och oförfärade, frukten icke och varen icke förskräckta för konungen i Assyrien och för hela den hop han har med sig; ty med oss är en som är större än den som är med honom.
8 Med honom är en arm av kött, men med oss är HERREN, vår Gud, och han skall hjälpa oss och föra våra krig. Och folket tryggade sig vid Hiskias, Juda konungs, ord.
9 Därefter sände Sanherib, konungen i Assyrien -- som nu med hela sin härsmakt låg framför Lakis -- sina tjänare till Jerusalem, till Hiskia, Juda konung, och till alla dem av Juda, som voro i Jerusalem, och lät säga:
10 »Så säger Sanherib, konungen i Assyrien: Varpå förtrösten I, eftersom I stannen kvar i det belägrade Jerusalem?
11 Se, Hiskia uppeggar eder, så att I kommen att dö genom hunger och törst; han säger: 'HERREN, vår Gud, skall rädda oss ur den assyriske konungens hand.'
12 Har icke denne samme Hiskia avskaffat hans offerhöjder och altaren och sagt till Juda och Jerusalem: 'Inför ett enda altare skolen I tillbedja, och på detta skolen I tända offereld'?
13 Veten I icke vad jag och mina fäder hava gjort med andra länders alla folk? Hava väl de gudar som dyrkas av folken i dessa andra länder någonsin förmått rädda sina länder ur min hand?
14 Ja, vilket bland alla dessa folk som mina fäder hava givit till spillo har väl haft någon gud som har förmått rädda sitt folk ur min hand eftersom I menen att eder Gud förmår rädda eder ur min hand!»
15 Nej, låten nu icke Hiskia så bedraga och uppegga eder, och tron honom icke; ty ingen gud hos något folk eller i något rike har förmått rädda sitt folk ur min hand eller ur mina fäders hand. Huru mycket mindre skall då eder Gud kunna rädda eder ur min hand!»
16 Och hans tjänare talade ännu mer mot HERREN Gud och mot hans tjänare Hiskia.
17 Han hade ock skrivit ett brev vari han smädade HERREN, Israels Gud, och talade mot honom så: »Lika litet som de gudar som dyrkas av folken i de andra länderna hava kunnat rädda sina folk ur min hand, lika litet skall Hiskias Gud kunna rädda sitt folk ur min hand.»
18 Och till Jerusalems folk, dem som stodo på muren, ropade de med hög röst på judiska för att göra dem modlösa och förskräckta, så att man sedan skulle kunna intaga staden.
19 Och de talade om Jerusalems Gud på samma sätt som om de främmande folkens gudar, vilka äro verk av människohänder.
20 Men vid allt detta bådo konung Hiskia och profeten Jesaja, Amos' son, och ropade till himmelen.
21 Då sände HERREN en ängel, som förgjorde alla de tappra stridsmännen och furstarna och hövitsmännen i den assyriske konungens läger, så att han med skam måste draga tillbaka till sitt land. Och när han en gång gick in i sin guds hus, blev han där nedhuggen med svärd av sina egna söner.
22 Så frälste HERREN Hiskia och Jerusalems invånare ur Sanheribs, den assyriske konungens, hand och ur alla andras hand; och han beskyddade dem på alla sidor.
23 Och många förde skänker till HERREN i Jerusalem och dyrbara gåvor till Hiskia, Juda konung; och han blev härefter högt aktad av alla folk.
24 Vid den tiden blev Hiskia dödssjuk. Då bad han till HERREN, och han svarade honom och gav honom ett undertecken.
25 Dock återgäldade Hiskia icke det goda som hade blivit honom bevisat, utan hans hjärta blev högmodigt; därför kom förtörnelse över honom och över Juda och Jerusalem.
26 Men då Hiskia ödmjukade sig, mitt i sitt hjärtas högmod, och Jerusalems invånare med honom, drabbade HERRENS förtörnelse dem icke, så länge Hiskia levde.
27 Och Hiskias rikedom och härlighet var mycket stor; han hade byggt sig skattkamrar för silver och guld och ädla stenar, och för välluktande kryddor, och för sköldar och för allahanda dyrbara håvor av andra slag,
28 så ock förrådshus för vad som kom in av säd, vin och olja, ävensom stall för allt slags boskap; och hjordar hade han skaffat för sina fållor.
29 Och han hade byggt sig städer och förvärvat sig stor rikedom på får och fäkreatur; ty Gud hade givit honom mycket stora ägodelar.
30 Det var ock Hiskia som täppte till Gihonsvattnets övre källa och ledde vattnet nedåt, väster om Davids stad. Och Hiskia var lyckosam i allt vad han företog sig.
31 Jämväl när från Babels furstar de sändebud kommo, som voro skickade till honom för att fråga efter det under som hade skett i landet, övergav Gud honom allenast för att pröva honom, på det att han skulle förnimma allt vad som var i hans hjärta.
32 Vad nu mer är att säga om Hiskia och om hans fromma gärningar, det finnes upptecknat i »Profeten Jesajas, Amos' sons, syner», i boken om Judas och Israels konungar.
33 Och Hiskia gick till vila hos sina fäder, och han begrov honom på den plats där man går upp till Davids hus' gravar; och hela Juda och Jerusalems invånare bevisade honom ära vid hans död. Och hans son Manasse blev konung efter honom.

32 Depois dessas coisas e dessa fidelidade, veio Senaqueribe, rei da Assíria, e entrou em Judá, e acampou-se contra as cidades fortes, e intentou separá-las para si. 2 Vendo, pois, Ezequias que Senaqueribe vinha e que o seu rosto era de guerra contra Jerusalém, 3 teve conselho com os seus príncipes e os seus varões, para que se tapassem as fontes das águas que havia fora da cidade; e eles o ajudaram. 4 Assim, muito povo se ajuntou e tapou todas as fontes, como também o ribeiro que se estendia pelo meio da terra. E disseram: Por que viriam os reis da Assíria e achariam tantas águas? 5 E ele se fortificou, e edificou todo o muro quebrado até às torres, e levantou o outro muro para fora, e fortificou a Milo na Cidade de Davi, e fez armas e escudos em abundância. 6 E pôs oficiais de guerra sobre o povo, e ajuntou-os a si na praça da porta da cidade, e falou-lhes ao coração, dizendo: 7 Esforçai-vos e tende bom ânimo; não temais, nem vos espanteis por causa do rei da Assíria, nem por causa de toda a multidão que está com ele, porque há um maior conosco do que com ele. 8 Com ele está o braço de carne, mas conosco, o Senhor, nosso Deus, para nos ajudar e para guerrear nossas guerras. E o povo descansou nas palavras de Ezequias, rei de Judá.
9 Depois disso, Senaqueribe, rei da Assíria, enviou os seus servos a Jerusalém (ele, porém, estava diante de Laquis, com todo o seu domínio), a Ezequias, rei de Judá, e a todo o Judá que estava em Jerusalém, dizendo: 10 Assim diz Senaqueribe, rei da Assíria: Em que confiais vós, que vos ficais na fortaleza em Jerusalém? 11 Porventura, não vos incita Ezequias, para morrerdes à fome e à sede, dizendo: O Senhor, nosso Deus, nos livrará das mãos do rei da Assíria? 12 Não é Ezequias o mesmo que tirou os seus altos e os seus altares e falou a Judá e a Jerusalém, dizendo: Diante do único altar vos prostrareis e sobre ele queimareis incenso? 13 Não sabeis vós o que eu e meus pais fizemos a todos os povos das terras? Porventura, puderam de qualquer maneira os deuses das nações daquelas terras livrar a sua terra das minhas mãos? 14 Qual é, de todos os deuses daquelas nações que meus pais destruíram, que pôde livrar o seu povo das minhas mãos, para que vosso Deus vos possa livrar das minhas mãos? 15 Agora, pois, não vos engane Ezequias, nem vos incite assim, nem lhe deis crédito, porque nenhum deus de nação alguma, nem de reino algum pôde livrar o seu povo das minhas mãos, nem das mãos de meus pais, quanto menos vos poderá livrar o vosso Deus das minhas mãos.
16 Também seus servos falaram ainda mais contra o Senhor Deus e contra Ezequias, o seu servo. 17 Escreveu também cartas, para blasfemar do Senhor, Deus de Israel, e para falar contra ele, dizendo: Assim como os deuses das nações das terras não livraram o seu povo das minhas mãos, assim também o Deus de Ezequias não livrará o seu povo das minhas mãos. 18 E clamaram em alta voz em judaico contra o povo de Jerusalém que estava em cima do muro, para os atemorizarem e os perturbarem, para tomarem a cidade. 19 E falaram do Deus de Jerusalém, como dos deuses dos povos da terra, obras das mãos dos homens. 20 Porém o rei Ezequias e o profeta Isaías, filho de Amoz, oraram por causa disso e clamaram ao céu.
21 Então, o Senhor enviou um anjo que destruiu todos os varões valentes, e os príncipes, e os chefes no arraial do rei da Assíria; e este tornou com vergonha de rosto à sua terra; e, entrando na casa de seu deus, os mesmos que descenderam dele o mataram ali à espada. 22 Assim livrou o Senhor a Ezequias e aos moradores de Jerusalém das mãos de Senaqueribe, rei da Assíria, e das mãos de todos; e de todos os lados os guiou. 23 E muitos traziam presentes a Jerusalém, ao Senhor, e coisas preciosíssimas a Ezequias, rei de Judá, de modo que, depois disso, foi exaltado perante os olhos de todas as nações.
Doença e morte de Ezequias
24 Naqueles dias, Ezequias adoeceu de morte e orou ao Senhor, o qual lhe falou e lhe deu um sinal. 25 Mas não correspondeu Ezequias ao benefício que se lhe fez, porque o seu coração se exaltou; pelo que veio grande indignação sobre ele e sobre Judá e Jerusalém. 26 Ezequias, porém, se humilhou pela soberba do seu coração, ele e os habitantes de Jerusalém; e a grande indignação do Senhor não veio sobre eles, nos dias de Ezequias.
27 E teve Ezequias riquezas e glória em grande abundância; e fizeram-se tesouros de prata, e de ouro, e de pedras preciosas, e de especiarias, e de escudos, e de tudo o que se podia desejar, 28 também armazéns para a colheita do trigo, e do mosto, e do azeite, e estrebarias para toda casta de animais, e currais para os rebanhos. 29 Edificou também cidades e possuiu ovelhas e vacas em abundância, porque Deus lhe tinha dado muitíssima fazenda. 30 Também o mesmo Ezequias tapou o manancial superior das águas de Giom e as fez correr por baixo para o ocidente da Cidade de Davi, porque Ezequias prosperou em toda a sua obra. 31 Contudo, no negócio dos embaixadores dos príncipes da Babilônia que foram enviados a ele a perguntarem acerca do prodígio que se fez naquela terra, Deus o desamparou, para tentá-lo, para saber tudo o que havia no seu coração.
32 Quanto ao resto dos atos de Ezequias e às suas beneficências, eis que estão escritos na visão do profeta Isaías, filho de Amoz, e no livro da história dos reis de Judá e de Israel. 33 E dormiu Ezequias com seus pais, e o sepultaram no mais alto dos sepulcros dos filhos de Davi; e todo o Judá e os habitantes de Jerusalém lhe fizeram honras na sua morte; e Manassés, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.

Sennacherib Threatens Jerusalem(A)(B)
32 After all that Hezekiah had so faithfully done, Sennacherib(C) king of Assyria came and invaded Judah. He laid siege to the fortified cities, thinking to conquer them for himself. 2 When Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come and that he intended to wage war against Jerusalem,(D) 3 he consulted with his officials and military staff about blocking off the water from the springs outside the city, and they helped him. 4 They gathered a large group of people who blocked all the springs(E) and the stream that flowed through the land. “Why should the kings[a] of Assyria come and find plenty of water?” they said. 5 Then he worked hard repairing all the broken sections of the wall(F) and building towers on it. He built another wall outside that one and reinforced the terraces[b](G) of the City of David. He also made large numbers of weapons(H) and shields.
6 He appointed military officers over the people and assembled them before him in the square at the city gate and encouraged them with these words: 7 “Be strong and courageous.(I) Do not be afraid or discouraged(J) because of the king of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater power with us than with him.(K) 8 With him is only the arm of flesh,(L) but with us(M) is the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles.”(N) And the people gained confidence from what Hezekiah the king of Judah said.
9 Later, when Sennacherib king of Assyria and all his forces were laying siege to Lachish,(O) he sent his officers to Jerusalem with this message for Hezekiah king of Judah and for all the people of Judah who were there:
10 “This is what Sennacherib king of Assyria says: On what are you basing your confidence,(P) that you remain in Jerusalem under siege? 11 When Hezekiah says, ‘The Lord our God will save us from the hand of the king of Assyria,’ he is misleading(Q) you, to let you die of hunger and thirst. 12 Did not Hezekiah himself remove this god’s high places and altars, saying to Judah and Jerusalem, ‘You must worship before one altar(R) and burn sacrifices on it’?
13 “Do you not know what I and my predecessors have done to all the peoples of the other lands? Were the gods of those nations ever able to deliver their land from my hand?(S) 14 Who of all the gods of these nations that my predecessors destroyed has been able to save his people from me? How then can your god deliver you from my hand? 15 Now do not let Hezekiah deceive(T) you and mislead you like this. Do not believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom has been able to deliver(U) his people from my hand or the hand of my predecessors.(V) How much less will your god deliver you from my hand!”
16 Sennacherib’s officers spoke further against the Lord God and against his servant Hezekiah. 17 The king also wrote letters(W) ridiculing(X) the Lord, the God of Israel, and saying this against him: “Just as the gods(Y) of the peoples of the other lands did not rescue their people from my hand, so the god of Hezekiah will not rescue his people from my hand.” 18 Then they called out in Hebrew to the people of Jerusalem who were on the wall, to terrify them and make them afraid in order to capture the city. 19 They spoke about the God of Jerusalem as they did about the gods of the other peoples of the world—the work of human hands.(Z)
20 King Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz cried out in prayer(AA) to heaven about this. 21 And the Lord sent an angel,(AB) who annihilated all the fighting men and the commanders and officers in the camp of the Assyrian king. So he withdrew to his own land in disgrace. And when he went into the temple of his god, some of his sons, his own flesh and blood, cut him down with the sword.(AC)
22 So the Lord saved Hezekiah and the people of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib king of Assyria and from the hand of all others. He took care of them[c] on every side. 23 Many brought offerings to Jerusalem for the Lord and valuable gifts(AD) for Hezekiah king of Judah. From then on he was highly regarded by all the nations.
Hezekiah’s Pride, Success and Death(AE)
24 In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. He prayed to the Lord, who answered him and gave him a miraculous sign.(AF) 25 But Hezekiah’s heart was proud(AG) and he did not respond to the kindness shown him; therefore the Lord’s wrath(AH) was on him and on Judah and Jerusalem. 26 Then Hezekiah repented(AI) of the pride of his heart, as did the people of Jerusalem; therefore the Lord’s wrath did not come on them during the days of Hezekiah.(AJ)
27 Hezekiah had very great wealth and honor,(AK) and he made treasuries for his silver and gold and for his precious stones, spices, shields and all kinds of valuables. 28 He also made buildings to store the harvest of grain, new wine and olive oil; and he made stalls for various kinds of cattle, and pens for the flocks. 29 He built villages and acquired great numbers of flocks and herds, for God had given him very great riches.(AL)
30 It was Hezekiah who blocked(AM) the upper outlet of the Gihon(AN) spring and channeled(AO) the water down to the west side of the City of David. He succeeded in everything he undertook. 31 But when envoys were sent by the rulers of Babylon(AP) to ask him about the miraculous sign(AQ) that had occurred in the land, God left him to test(AR) him and to know everything that was in his heart.
32 The other events of Hezekiah’s reign and his acts of devotion are written in the vision of the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel. 33 Hezekiah rested with his ancestors and was buried on the hill where the tombs of David’s descendants are. All Judah and the people of Jerusalem honored him when he died. And Manasseh his son succeeded him as king.
