6 He also appointed military officers over the people and gathered them to him in the square at the city gate, and spoke [a]encouragingly to them, saying, 7 “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be dismayed because of the king of Assyria, nor because of all the army that is with him; for the One with us is greater than the one with him. 8 With him there is only an arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people relied on the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

6 He appointed military officers over the people and assembled them before him in the square at the city gate and encouraged them with these words: 7 “Be strong and courageous.(A) Do not be afraid or discouraged(B) because of the king of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater power with us than with him.(C) 8 With him is only the arm of flesh,(D) but with us(E) is the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles.”(F) And the people gained confidence from what Hezekiah the king of Judah said.

7 Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him:
8 With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
