² For the king and his princes and all the assembly in Jerusalem had taken counsel to keep the Passover ^(A)in the second month—

¹⁰ “Speak to the people of Israel, saying, If any one of you or of your descendants is unclean through touching a dead body, or is on a long journey, he shall still keep the Passover to the Lord. ^11 (A)In the second month on the fourteenth day at twilight they shall keep it. ^(B)They shall eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.

¹³ Better was ^(A)a poor and wise youth than an old and foolish king who no longer knew how ^(B)to take advice.

^15 (A)And they slaughtered the Passover lamb on the fourteenth day of the second month. ^(B)And the priests and the Levites were ashamed, ^(C)so that they consecrated themselves and brought burnt offerings into the house of the Lord.

¹³ And many people came together in Jerusalem to keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread ^(A)in the second month, a very great assembly.

The Ark Brought from Kiriath-Jearim

13 David consulted with the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, with every leader. ² And David said to all the assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you and from the Lord our God, let us send abroad to our brothers ^(A)who remain in all the lands of Israel, as well as to the priests and Levites in the cities that have pasturelands, that they may be gathered to us. ³ Then let us bring again the ark of our God to us, ^(B)for we did not seek it^[a] in the days of Saul.”
