Judah’s King Jotham
27 Jotham was twenty-five years old(A) when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem.(B) His mother’s name was Jerushah daughter of Zadok. 2 He did what was right in the Lord’s sight just as his father Uzziah had done. In addition, he didn’t enter the Lord’s sanctuary,(C) but the people still behaved corruptly.
3 Jotham built the Upper Gate of the Lord’s temple, and he built extensively on the wall of Ophel.(D) 4 He also built cities in the hill country of Judah and fortresses and towers in the forests.(E) 5 He waged war against the king of the Ammonites. He overpowered the Ammonites, and that year they gave him 7,500 pounds[a] of silver, 60,000 bushels[b] of wheat, and 60,000 bushels of barley. They paid him the same in the second and third years. 6 So Jotham strengthened his position because he did not waver in obeying[c] the Lord his God.(F)
7 As for the rest of the events(G) of Jotham’s reign, along with all his wars and his ways, note that they are written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah. 8 He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. 9 Jotham rested with his ancestors and was buried in the city of David. His son Ahaz became king in his place.

27 Jotham was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Jerushah, the daughter of Zadok.
2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father Uzziah did: howbeit he entered not into the temple of the Lord. And the people did yet corruptly.
3 He built the high gate of the house of the Lord, and on the wall of Ophel he built much.
4 Moreover he built cities in the mountains of Judah, and in the forests he built castles and towers.
5 He fought also with the king of the Ammonites, and prevailed against them. And the children of Ammon gave him the same year an hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand measures of wheat, and ten thousand of barley. So much did the children of Ammon pay unto him, both the second year, and the third.
6 So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the Lord his God.
7 Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all his wars, and his ways, lo, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.
8 He was five and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem.
9 And Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Ahaz his son reigned in his stead.

27 Jotam tenía veinticinco años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó en Jerusalén dieciséis años. Su madre se llamaba Jerusá, hija de Sadoc.
2 Los hechos de Jotam fueron rectos a los ojos del Señor, como lo habían sido los de Ozías, su padre. Sin embargo, no entró en el templo del Señor. Pero el pueblo continuó sus prácticas perversas. 3 Jotam fue quien construyó la puerta superior del templo del Señor, y también muchas otras edificaciones en la muralla de Ófel. 4 También construyó ciudades en la montaña de Judá, y fortalezas y torres en los bosques. 5 Estuvo en guerra con el rey de los amonitas, a los que venció. Aquel año los amonitas tuvieron que pagarle como tributo tres mil trescientos kilos de plata, dos millones doscientos mil litros de trigo y otros tantos de cebada. Lo mismo le entregaron en cada uno de los dos años siguientes.
6 Jotam se hizo poderoso porque su conducta fue recta a los ojos del Señor. 7 El resto de la historia de Jotam, con todo lo que se refiere a sus campañas militares y lo que realizó, está escrito en el libro de los reyes de Israel y de Judá.
8 Jotam tenía veinticinco años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó en Jerusalén dieciséis años. 9 Cuando murió, lo enterraron con sus antepasados en la Ciudad de David. Después reinó en su lugar su hijo Ahaz.
