5 你們不知道以色列的上帝耶和華曾經立下永世之約[a]，要把以色列國永遠賜給大衛和他的子孫嗎？ 6 尼八的兒子耶羅波安本是大衛的兒子所羅門的僕人，他卻背叛他的主人， 7 召集一群無賴惡棍，與所羅門的兒子羅波安作對。那時，羅波安年輕怯懦，無力抵抗。

5 Should you not know that the Lord God of Israel (A)gave the dominion over Israel to David forever, to him and his sons, (B)by a covenant of salt? 6 Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up and (C)rebelled against his lord. 7 Then (D)worthless rogues gathered to him, and strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was (E)young and inexperienced and could not withstand them.

5 Don’t you know that the Lord, the God of Israel, has given the kingship of Israel to David and his descendants forever(A) by a covenant of salt?(B) 6 Yet Jeroboam son of Nebat, an official of Solomon son of David, rebelled(C) against his master. 7 Some worthless scoundrels(D) gathered around him and opposed Rehoboam son of Solomon when he was young and indecisive(E) and not strong enough to resist them.
