^6 (A)Yet I have chosen Jerusalem, that My name may be there, and I ^(B)have chosen David to be over My people Israel.’

⁴ However the Lord God of Israel ^(A)chose me above all the house of my father to be king over Israel forever, for He has chosen ^(B)Judah to be the ruler. And of the house of Judah, ^(C)the house of my father, and ^(D)among the sons of my father, He was pleased with me to make me king over all Israel.

The End of Rehoboam’s Reign^(A)

¹³ Thus King Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem and reigned. Now ^(B)Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he became king; and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, ^(C)the city which the Lord had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put His name there.
