²³ may you hear from heaven, and act, and judge your servants, repaying the guilty by bringing their conduct on their own heads and vindicating the righteous by rewarding them according to their righteousness.

⁹ There will be affliction and distress for everyone who does evil, both the Jew first and the Greek,^{(A) 10} but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, both the Jew first and the Greek.

²⁰ The person who sins shall die. A child shall not suffer for the iniquity of a parent nor a parent suffer for the iniquity of a child; the righteousness of the righteous shall be their own, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be their own.^(A)

¹⁶ Therefore thus says the Lord: I am going to send you off the face of the earth. Within this year you will be dead, for you have spoken rebellion against the Lord.”^(A)

¹⁷ In that same year, in the seventh month, the prophet Hananiah died.

²⁶ ‘For the blood of Naboth and for the blood of his children that I saw yesterday, says the Lord, I swear I will repay you on this very plot of ground.’ Now, therefore, lift him out and throw him on the plot of ground in accordance with the word of the Lord.”^(A)
