² I have built you an exalted house, a place for you to dwell forever.”

⁴ I am now about to build a house for the name of the Lord my God and dedicate it to him for offering fragrant incense before him, and for the regular offering of the rows of bread, and for burnt offerings morning and evening, on the Sabbaths and the new moons and the appointed festivals of the Lord our God, as ordained forever for Israel.^{(A) 5} The house that I am about to build will be great, for our God is greater than other gods.^{(B) 6} But who is able to build him a house, since heaven, even highest heaven, cannot contain him? Who am I to build a house for him except as a place to make offerings before him?^(C)

³ And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying,

¹¹ But when Christ came as a high priest of the good things that have come,^[a] then through the greater and more perfect tent^[b] (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation),^{(A) 12} he entered once for all into the holy place, not with the blood of goats and calves but with his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption.^(B)

²¹ Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when you^[a] will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.^{(A) 22} You^[b] worship what you^[c] do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews.^{(B) 23} But the hour is coming and is now here when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such as these to worship him.^(C)

²⁰ David said further to his son Solomon, “Be strong and of good courage, and act. Do not be afraid or dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.^(A)
