³ Under it were figures of gourds,^[a] for ten cubits, compassing the sea all around. The gourds were in two rows, cast with it when it was cast.

^7 (A)the first living creature like a lion, the second living creature like an ox, the third living creature with the face of a man, and the fourth living creature like an eagle in flight.

⁹ For it is written in the Law of Moses, ^(A)“You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out the grain.” Is it for oxen that God is concerned? ¹⁰ Does he not certainly speak for our sake? It was written ^(B)for our sake, because ^(C)the plowman should plow in hope and the thresher thresh in hope of sharing in the crop.

^14 (A)And every one had four faces: ^(B)the first face was the face of the cherub, and the second face was ^(C)a human face, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.

¹⁰ As for the likeness of their faces, ^(A)each had a human face. The four had the face of a lion on the right side, the four had the face of an ox on the left side, and the four had the face of an eagle.

²⁴ Under its brim were ^(A)gourds, for ten cubits, compassing the sea all around. The gourds were in two rows, cast with it when it was cast. ²⁵ It stood on ^(B)twelve oxen, three facing north, three facing west, three facing south, and three facing east. The sea was set on them, and all their rear parts were inward. ²⁶ Its thickness was a handbreadth,^[a] and its brim was made like the brim of a cup, like the flower of a lily. It held two thousand baths.^[b]
