^24 (A)His servants therefore took him out of that chariot and put him in the second chariot that he had, and they brought him to Jerusalem. So he died, and was buried in one of the tombs of his fathers. And ^(B)all Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah.

¹¹ In that day there shall be a great ^(A)mourning in Jerusalem, ^(B)like the mourning at Hadad Rimmon in the plain of ^[a]Megiddo.

Death Comes to All

9 For I ^[a]considered all this in my heart, so that I could declare it all: ^(A)that the righteous and the wise and their works are in the hand of God. People know neither love nor hatred by anything they see before them. ^2 (B)All things come alike to all:

¹⁴ There is a vanity which occurs on earth, that there are just men to whom it ^(A)happens according to the work of the wicked; again, there are wicked men to whom it happens according to the work of the ^(B)righteous. I said that this also is vanity.

²⁸ “Surely I will gather you to your fathers, and you shall be gathered to your grave in peace; and your eyes shall not see all the calamity which I will bring on this place and its inhabitants.” ’ ” So they brought back word to the king.

^30 (A)Then his servants moved his body in a chariot from Megiddo, brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own tomb. And ^(B)the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, anointed him, and made him king in his father’s place.

⁴³ And he had him ride in the second ^(A)chariot which he had; ^(B)and they cried out before him, “Bow the knee!” So he set him ^(C)over all the land of Egypt.
