¹¹ The Passover lambs were slaughtered,^(A) and the priests splashed against the altar the blood handed to them, while the Levites skinned the animals.

³⁴ The priests, however, were too few to skin all the burnt offerings;^(A) so their relatives the Levites helped them until the task was finished and until other priests had been consecrated,^(B) for the Levites had been more conscientious in consecrating themselves than the priests had been.

²¹ In the same way, he sprinkled with the blood both the tabernacle and everything used in its ceremonies. ²² In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood,^(A) and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.^(B)

¹⁶ Then they took up their regular positions^(A) as prescribed in the Law of Moses the man of God. The priests splashed against the altar the blood handed to them by the Levites.

²² So they slaughtered the bulls, and the priests took the blood and splashed it against the altar; next they slaughtered the rams and splashed their blood against the altar; then they slaughtered the lambs and splashed their blood^(A) against the altar. ²³ The goats^(B) for the sin offering were brought before the king and the assembly, and they laid their hands^(C) on them. ²⁴ The priests then slaughtered the goats and presented their blood on the altar for a sin offering to atone^(D) for all Israel, because the king had ordered the burnt offering and the sin offering for all Israel.^(E)

⁷ But only you and your sons may serve as priests in connection with everything at the altar and inside the curtain.^(A) I am giving you the service of the priesthood as a gift.^(B) Anyone else who comes near the sanctuary is to be put to death.^(C)”

³ They are to be responsible to you^(A) and are to perform all the duties of the tent,^(B) but they must not go near the furnishings of the sanctuary or the altar. Otherwise both they and you will die.^(C)

⁵ You are to slaughter^(A) the young bull^(B) before the Lord, and then Aaron’s sons^(C) the priests shall bring the blood and splash it against the sides of the altar^(D) at the entrance to the tent of meeting. ⁶ You are to skin^(E) the burnt offering and cut it into pieces.^(F)
