²⁰ Then the king commanded Hilkiah, ^(A)Ahikam the son of Shaphan, ^[a]Abdon the son of Micah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king, saying,

¹² Then the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, ^(A)Ahikam the son of Shaphan, ^[a]Achbor the son of Michaiah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king, saying,

¹⁴ and said to him, ^[a]“Do you certainly know that ^(A)Baalis the king of the Ammonites has sent Ishmael the son of Nethaniah to murder you?” But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam did not believe them.

⁹ And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, took an oath before them and their men, saying, “Do not be afraid to serve the Chaldeans. Dwell in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be ^(A)well with you.

^6 (A)Then Jeremiah went to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, to ^(B)Mizpah, and dwelt with him among the people who were left in the land.

²⁴ Nevertheless ^(A)the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, so that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to death.

²² Then Jehoiakim the king sent men to Egypt: Elnathan the son of Achbor, and other men who went with him to Egypt.

Gedaliah Made Governor of Judah^(A)

²² Then he made Gedaliah the son of ^(B)Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, governor over ^(C)the people who remained in the land of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had left.
