⁸ and I will no more remove the foot of Israel from the land ^(A)that I appointed for your fathers, if only they will be careful to do all that I have commanded them, all the law, the statutes, and the rules given through Moses.”

¹⁰ And I will appoint a place for my people Israel ^(A)and will plant them, so that they may dwell in their own place ^(B)and be disturbed no more. ^(C)And violent men shall afflict them no more, as formerly,

The Righteous Shall Live by Faith

¹⁰ For all who rely on works of the law are ^(A)under a curse; for it is written, ^(B)“Cursed be everyone who does not ^(C)abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.” ¹¹ Now it is evident that ^(D)no one is justified before God by the law, for ^(E)“The righteous shall live by faith.”^{[a] 12} But the law is not of faith, rather ^(F)“The one who does them shall live by them.” ¹³ Christ ^(G)redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, ^(H)“Cursed is everyone who is hanged ^(I)on a tree”—

⁶ And they were both ^(A)righteous before God, walking ^(B)blamelessly in all the commandments and statutes of the Lord.

²⁵ Therefore say to them, Thus says the Lord God: ^(A)You eat flesh with the blood and ^(B)lift up your eyes to your idols and ^(C)shed blood; shall you then possess the land? ^26 (D)You rely on the sword, ^(E)you commit abominations, and ^(F)each of you defiles his neighbor's wife; shall you then possess the land?

¹⁷ And as for you, if you will walk before me as David your father walked, doing according to all that I have commanded you and keeping my statutes and my rules, ¹⁸ then I will establish your royal throne, as I covenanted with David your father, saying, ^(A)‘You shall not lack a man to rule Israel.’

^19 (B)“But if you^[a] turn aside and forsake my statutes and my commandments that I have set before you, and go and serve other gods and worship them, ^20 (C)then I will pluck you^[b] up from my land that I have given you, and this house that I have consecrated for my name, I will cast out of my sight, and I will make it ^(D)a proverb and a byword among all peoples. ²¹ And at this house, which was exalted, everyone passing by will be astonished and say, ^(E)‘Why has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?’ ²² Then they will say, ‘Because they abandoned the Lord, the God of their fathers who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods and worshiped them and served them. Therefore he has brought all this disaster on them.’”

¹⁵ “See, ^(A)I have set before you today life and good, death and evil. ¹⁶ If you obey the commandments of the Lord your God^[a] that I command you today, ^(B)by loving the Lord your God, by walking in his ways, and by keeping his commandments and his statutes and his rules,^[b] then you shall live and multiply, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land that you are entering to take possession of it. ¹⁷ But if ^(C)your heart turns away, and you will not hear, but are drawn away to worship other gods and serve them, ^18 (D)I declare to you today, that you shall surely perish. You shall not live long in the land that you are going over the Jordan to enter and possess. ¹⁹ I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, ^(E)blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, ²⁰ loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice ^(F)and holding fast to him, for ^(G)he is your life and length of days, that you may dwell in ^(H)the land that the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”
