For he rebuilt the [a]high places which Hezekiah his father had (A)broken down; he raised up altars for the Baals, and (B)made wooden images; and he worshiped (C)all [b]the host of heaven and served them. He also built altars in the house of the Lord, of which the Lord had said, (D)“In Jerusalem shall My name be forever.” And he built altars for all the host of heaven (E)in the two courts of the house of the Lord. (F)Also he caused his sons to pass through the fire in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom; he practiced (G)soothsaying, used witchcraft and sorcery, and (H)consulted mediums and spiritists. Israel Restored at Last

14 O Israel, (A)return to the Lord your God,
For you have stumbled because of your iniquity;
Take words with you,
And return to the Lord.
Say to Him,
“Take away all iniquity;

(D)We will not ride on horses,
Nor will we say anymore to the work of our hands, ‘You are our gods.’
(E)For in You the fatherless finds mercy.”

And the haughtiness of men shall be brought low;
The Lord alone will be exalted in that day,
18 But the idols [b]He shall utterly abolish.

19 They shall go into the (A)holes of the rocks,
And into the caves of the [c]earth,
(B)From the terror of the Lord
And the glory of His majesty,
When He arises (C)to shake the earth mightily.

20 In that day a man will cast away his idols of silver
And his idols of gold,
Which they made, each for himself to worship,
To the moles and bats,
21 To go into the clefts of the rocks,
And into the crags of the rugged rocks,
From the terror of the Lord
And the glory of His majesty,
When He arises to shake the earth mightily.
