⁹ Later, when Sennacherib king of Assyria and all his forces were laying siege to Lachish,^(A) he sent his officers to Jerusalem with this message for Hezekiah king of Judah and for all the people of Judah who were there:

¹⁷ The king of Assyria sent his supreme commander,^(C) his chief officer and his field commander with a large army, from Lachish to King Hezekiah at Jerusalem. They came up to Jerusalem and stopped at the aqueduct of the Upper Pool,^(D) on the road to the Washerman’s Field.

³¹ Then Joshua and all Israel with him moved on from Libnah to Lachish;^(A) he took up positions against it and attacked it.

⁸ When the field commander heard that the king of Assyria had left Lachish,^(A) he withdrew and found the king fighting against Libnah.^(B)

² Then the king of Assyria sent his field commander with a large army from Lachish^(A) to King Hezekiah at Jerusalem. When the commander stopped at the aqueduct of the Upper Pool, on the road to the Launderer’s Field,^(B)
