²⁶ But Hezekiah ^(A)humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the Lord did not come upon them in the days of Hezekiah.

¹⁸ “Micah of Moresheth prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and said to all the people of Judah: ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts,

¹⁹ Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him to death? ^(B)Did he not fear the Lord and entreat the favor of the Lord, ^(C)and did not the Lord relent of the disaster that he had pronounced against them? ^(D)But we are about to bring great disaster upon ourselves.”

¹² And when he was in distress, he entreated the favor of the Lord his God ^(A)and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers.

^10 (A)Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.

²⁷ because your heart was tender and you humbled yourself before God when you heard his words against this place and its inhabitants, and you have humbled yourself before me and have torn your clothes and wept before me, I also have heard you, declares the Lord. ²⁸ Behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you shall be gathered to your grave in peace, and your eyes shall not see all the disaster that I will bring upon this place and its inhabitants.’” And they brought back word to the king.

^6 (A)Behold, the days are coming, when all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have stored up till this day, shall be carried to Babylon. Nothing shall be left, says the Lord. ^7 (B)And some of your own sons, who will come from you, whom you will father, shall be taken away, and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.” ⁸ Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The word of the Lord that you have spoken is good.” For he thought, ^(C)“There will be peace and security in my days.”

²³ And he did not humble himself before the Lord, ^(A)as Manasseh his father had humbled himself, but this Amon incurred guilt more and more.

¹⁹ And his prayer, and how ^(A)God was moved by his entreaty, and all his sin and his faithlessness, and the sites ^(B)on which he built high places and set up the ^(C)Asherim and the images, before ^(D)he humbled himself, behold, they are written in the Chronicles of the Seers.^[a]

¹⁶ Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the word of the Lord: ¹⁷ Behold, the days are coming, when ^(A)all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have stored up till this day, shall be carried to Babylon. Nothing shall be left, says the Lord. ^18 (B)And some of your own sons, who will come from you, whom you will father, shall be taken away, ^(C)and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.” ¹⁹ Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, ^(D)“The word of the Lord that you have spoken is good.” For he thought, “Why not, if there will be peace and security in my days?”
