²⁴ For Hezekiah king of Judah ^(A)gave the assembly 1,000 bulls and 7,000 sheep for offerings, and the princes gave the assembly 1,000 bulls and 10,000 sheep. And the priests ^(B)consecrated themselves in great numbers.

³⁴ But the priests were too few and could not flay all the burnt offerings, so until other priests had consecrated themselves, ^(A)their brothers the Levites helped them, until the work was finished—^(B)for the Levites were more upright in heart than the priests in consecrating themselves.

⁷ Then Josiah contributed to the lay people, as Passover offerings for all who were present, lambs and young goats from the flock to the number of 30,000, and 3,000 bulls; ^(A)these were from the king's possessions. ⁸ And his officials contributed willingly to the people, to the priests, and to the Levites. ^(B)Hilkiah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, the chief officers of the house of God, gave to the priests for the Passover offerings 2,600 Passover lambs and 300 bulls.

⁸ Therefore it says,

^17 (A)It shall be the prince's duty to furnish the burnt offerings, grain offerings, and drink offerings, at the feasts, the new moons, and the Sabbaths, all the appointed feasts of the house of Israel: he shall provide the sin offerings, grain offerings, burnt offerings, and peace offerings, to make atonement on behalf of the house of Israel.

³ for they could not keep it ^(A)at that time ^(B)because the priests had not consecrated themselves in sufficient number, nor had the people assembled in Jerusalem—

³ Moreover, in addition to all that I have provided for the holy house, I have a treasure of my own of gold and silver, and because of my devotion to the house of my God I give it to the house of my God: ^4 (A)3,000 talents^[a] of gold, of the gold of ^(B)Ophir, and 7,000 talents of refined silver, for overlaying the walls of the house,^{[b] 5} and for all the work to be done by craftsmen, gold for the things of gold and silver for the things of silver. Who then will offer willingly, consecrating himself^[c] today to the Lord?”

⁶ Then ^(C)the leaders of fathers' houses made their freewill offerings, as did also the leaders of the tribes, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and ^(D)the officers over the king's work. ⁷ They gave for the service of the house of God 5,000 talents and 10,000 ^(E)darics^[d] of gold, 10,000 talents of silver, 18,000 talents of bronze and 100,000 talents of iron. ⁸ And whoever had precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the Lord, in the care of ^(F)Jehiel the Gershonite. ⁹ Then the people rejoiced because they had given willingly, for with a ^(G)whole heart they had offered freely to the Lord. David the king also rejoiced greatly.
