² but he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel. He even made ^(A)metal images for ^(B)the Baals,

^17 (A)“You shall not make for yourself any gods of cast metal.

Israel's Unfaithfulness

^11 (A)And the people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the Lord and served the Baals.

¹⁷ For ^(A)I will remove the names of the Baals from her mouth, and they shall be remembered by name no more.

³ He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother was his counselor in doing wickedly. ⁴ He did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, as the house of Ahab had done. For after the death of his father they were his counselors, to his undoing.

^6 (A)And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done, for ^(B)the daughter of Ahab was his wife. And he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord.

²⁶ and they brought out the ^(A)pillar that was in ^(B)the house of Baal and burned it. ²⁷ And they demolished the ^(C)pillar of Baal, and demolished the house of Baal, and made it ^(D)a latrine to this day.

Jehu Reigns in Israel

²⁸ Thus Jehu wiped out Baal from Israel.

³¹ And as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, ^(A)he took for his wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the ^(B)Sidonians, ^(C)and went and served Baal and worshiped him. ³² He erected an altar for Baal in ^(D)the house of Baal, which he built in Samaria. ³³ And Ahab made an ^(E)Asherah. Ahab did more to provoke the Lord, the God of Israel, to anger ^(F)than all the kings of Israel who were before him.

¹³ They abandoned the Lord ^(A)and served the Baals and the Ashtaroth.
