⁵ He sought God during the days of Zechariah, who instructed him in the fear^[a] of God.^(A) As long as he sought the Lord, God gave him success.^(B)

² He went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you^(A) when you are with him.^(B) If you seek^(C) him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.^(D)

² Joash did what was right in the eyes of the Lord^(A) all the years of Jehoiada the priest.

¹³ Then you will have success^(A) if you are careful to observe the decrees and laws^(B) that the Lord gave Moses for Israel. Be strong and courageous.^(C) Do not be afraid or discouraged.

Daniel’s Vision of a Man

10 In the third year of Cyrus^(A) king of Persia, a revelation was given to Daniel (who was called Belteshazzar).^(B) Its message was true^(C) and it concerned a great war.^[a] The understanding of the message came to him in a vision.

¹⁶ Now I have heard that you are able to give interpretations and to solve difficult problems.^(A) If you can read this writing and tell me what it means, you will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around your neck,^(B) and you will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.”^(C)

¹⁹ During the night the mystery^(A) was revealed to Daniel in a vision.^(B) Then Daniel praised the God of heaven^(C)

¹⁷ To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding^(A) of all kinds of literature and learning.^(B) And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds.^(C)

¹⁵ Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I had a dream, and no one can interpret it.^(A) But I have heard it said of you that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.”^(B)
