¹⁹ Uzziah, who had a censer in his hand ready to burn incense, became angry. While he was raging at the priests in their presence before the incense altar in the Lord’s temple, leprosy^[a](A) broke out on his forehead.

¹⁰ When the cloud lifted from above the tent,^(A) Miriam’s skin was leprous^[a]—it became as white as snow.^(B) Aaron turned toward her and saw that she had a defiling skin disease,^(C)

¹⁶ While he was still speaking, the king said to him, “Have we appointed you an adviser to the king? Stop! Why be struck down?”

So the prophet stopped but said, “I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.”

¹⁰ Asa was angry with the seer because of this; he was so enraged that he put him in prison.^(A) At the same time Asa brutally oppressed some of the people.

²⁵ When he went in and stood before his master, Elisha asked him, “Where have you been, Gehazi?”

“Your servant didn’t go anywhere,” Gehazi answered.

²⁶ But Elisha said to him, “Was not my spirit with you when the man got down from his chariot to meet you? Is this the time^(A) to take money or to accept clothes—or olive groves and vineyards, or flocks and herds, or male and female slaves?^{(B) 27} Naaman’s leprosy^(C) will cling to you and to your descendants forever.” Then Gehazi^(D) went from Elisha’s presence and his skin was leprous—it had become as white as snow.^(E)
