¹⁰ All the leaders and all the people rejoiced and brought their tax and dropped it into the chest until it was full.

⁷ Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not regretfully or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.^(A)

² for during a severe ordeal of affliction their abundant joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part.

⁹ Then the people rejoiced because these had given willingly, for with single mind they had offered freely to the Lord; King David also rejoiced greatly.^(A)

⁴⁵ they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds^[a] to all, as any had need. ⁴⁶ Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home^[b] and ate their food with glad and generous^[c] hearts,^{(A) 47} praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. And day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.^(B)
