⁵ one-third shall be at the king’s house; and one-third at the Gate of the Foundation. All the people shall be in the courts of the house of the Lord.

² And ^(A)a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, ^(B)to ^[a]ask alms from those who entered the temple;

^2 (A)The prince shall enter by way of the vestibule of the gateway from the outside, and stand by the gatepost. The priests shall prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings. He shall worship at the threshold of the gate. Then he shall go out, but the gate shall not be shut until evening. ³ Likewise the people of the land shall worship at the entrance to this gateway before the Lord on the Sabbaths and the New Moons.

² And the Lord said to me, “This gate shall be shut; it shall not be opened, and no man shall enter by it, ^(A)because the Lord God of Israel has entered by it; therefore it shall be shut. ³ As for the ^(B)prince, because he is the prince, he may sit in it to ^(C)eat bread before the Lord; he shall enter by way of the vestibule of the gateway, and go out the same way.”

⁵ Then he commanded them, saying, “This is what you shall do: One-third of you who ^[a]come on duty ^(A)on the Sabbath shall be keeping watch over the king’s house, ⁶ one-third shall be at the gate of Sur, and one-third at the gate behind the escorts. You shall keep the watch of the house, lest it be broken down.
