¹⁶ What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we^[a] are the temple of the living God, as God said,

³¹ foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.^{(A) 32} They know God’s decree, that those who practice such things deserve to die, yet they not only do them but even applaud others who practice them.^(B)

¹⁸ Because he despised the oath and broke the covenant, because he gave his hand and yet did all these things, he shall not escape.^{(A) 19} Therefore thus says the Lord God: As I live, I will surely return upon his head my oath that he despised and my covenant that he broke.

Alliance with Egypt Is Futile
