¹² In the thirty-ninth year of his reign Asa was diseased in his feet, and his disease became severe; yet even in his disease he did not seek the Lord but sought help from physicians.^(A)

Apostasy and Death of Ahaz

²² In the time of his distress he became yet more faithless to the Lord—this same King Ahaz.

⁹ For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the entire earth to strengthen those whose heart is true to him. You have done foolishly in this, for from now on you will have wars.”^(A)

²⁶ She had endured much under many physicians and had spent all that she had, and she was no better but rather grew worse.

¹⁴ and did not seek guidance from the Lord. Therefore the Lord^[a] put him to death and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse.^(A)
