¹² They entered into a covenant^(A) to seek the Lord,^(B) the God of their ancestors, with all their heart and soul.

¹⁶ Jehoiada then made a covenant^(A) that he, the people and the king^[a] would be the Lord’s people.

¹⁴ However, I admit that I worship the God of our ancestors^(A) as a follower of the Way,^(B) which they call a sect.^(C) I believe everything that is in accordance with the Law and that is written in the Prophets,^(D)

¹⁰ Now I intend to make a covenant^(A) with the Lord, the God of Israel, so that his fierce anger^(B) will turn away from us.

⁵ And they exceeded our expectations: They gave themselves first of all to the Lord, and then by the will of God also to us.

The Agreement of the People

³⁸ “In view of all this, we are making a binding agreement,^(A) putting it in writing,^(B) and our leaders, our Levites and our priests are affixing their seals to it.”^[a]
