²⁰ Jeroboam did not recover his power in the days of Abijah; the Lord struck him down, and he died.^(A)

²⁰ The time that Jeroboam reigned was twenty-two years; then he slept with his ancestors, and his son Nadab succeeded him.

³⁸ About ten days later the Lord struck Nabal, and he died.

²³ And immediately, because he had not given the glory to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died.^(A)

¹⁶ Mortal, with one blow I am about to take away from you the delight of your eyes, yet you shall not mourn or weep, nor shall your tears run down.^(A)

Asa Reigns over Judah

⁹ In the twentieth year of King Jeroboam of Israel, Asa began to reign over Judah;

¹⁰ David said, “As the Lord lives, the Lord will strike him down, or his day will come to die, or he will go down into battle and perish.^(A)
