¹⁹ And Abijah pursued Jeroboam and took cities from him: Bethel with its villages, Jeshanah with its villages, and ^(A)Ephrain^[a] with its villages.

⁸ And when Asa heard these words and the prophecy of ^[a]Oded the prophet, he took courage, and removed the abominable idols from all the land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities ^(A)which he had taken in the mountains of Ephraim; and he restored the altar of the Lord that was before the vestibule of the Lord.

⁹ Then the border went around from the top of the hill to ^(A)the fountain of the water of Nephtoah, and extended to the cities of Mount Ephron. And the border went around ^(B)to Baalah (which is ^(C)Kirjath Jearim).

^54 (A)Therefore Jesus no longer walked openly among the Jews, but went from there into the country near the wilderness, to a city called ^(B)Ephraim, and there remained with His disciples.

⁷ And when the men of Israel who were on the other side of the valley, and those who were on the other side of the Jordan, saw that the men of Israel had fled and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities and fled; and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.

³⁹ And he took it and its king and all its cities; they struck them with the edge of the sword and utterly destroyed all the people who were in it. He left none remaining; as he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir and its king, as he had done also to Libnah and its king.

¹⁹ And do not stay there yourselves, but pursue your enemies, and attack their rear guard. Do not allow them to enter their cities, for the Lord your God has delivered them into your hand.”
