^2 (A)In the fifth year of King Rehoboam, because they had been unfaithful to the Lord, ^(B)Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem

⁴⁰ Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam. But Jeroboam arose and fled into Egypt, to ^(A)Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.

^19 (A)“But if you^[a] turn aside and forsake my statutes and my commandments that I have set before you, and go and serve other gods and worship them, ^20 (B)then I will pluck you^[b] up from my land that I have given you, and this house that I have consecrated for my name, I will cast out of my sight, and I will make it ^(C)a proverb and a byword among all peoples.

^22 (A)The Lord could no longer bear your evil deeds and ^(B)the abominations that you committed. ^(C)Therefore your land has become ^(D)a desolation and a waste and a curse, ^(E)without inhabitant, as it is this day. ²³ It is because you made offerings ^(F)and because you sinned against the Lord and did not obey the voice of the Lord or walk in his law and in his statutes and in his testimonies ^(G)that this disaster has happened to you, as at this day.”

^26 (A)“Nevertheless, they were disobedient and rebelled against you ^(B)and cast your law behind their back ^(C)and killed your prophets, who ^(D)had warned them in order to turn them back to you, ^(E)and they committed great blasphemies. ^27 (F)Therefore you gave them into the hand of their enemies, who made them suffer. ^(G)And in the time of their suffering they cried out to you and you heard them from heaven, and according to your great mercies you gave them ^(H)saviors who saved them from the hand of their enemies.
