² But the word of the Lord came to ^(A)Shemaiah the man of God:

^15 (A)Now the acts of Rehoboam, ^(B)from first to last, are they not written in the chronicles of ^(C)Shemaiah the prophet and of ^(D)Iddo ^(E)the seer?^[a] There were continual wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam.

Fight the Good Fight of Faith

¹¹ But as for you, ^(A)O man of God, ^(B)flee these things. ^(C)Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.

⁵ Then ^(A)Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam and to the princes of Judah, who had gathered at Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said to them, “Thus says the Lord, ^(B)‘You abandoned me, so I have abandoned you to the hand of Shishak.’” ⁶ Then the princes of ^(C)Israel and the king humbled themselves and said, ^(D)“The Lord is righteous.” ⁷ When the Lord saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah: ^(E)“They have humbled themselves. I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance, ^(F)and my wrath shall not be poured out on Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

¹⁴ According to the ruling of David his father, he appointed ^(A)the divisions of the priests for their service, ^(B)and the Levites for their offices of praise and ^(C)ministry before the priests ^(D)as the duty of each day required, and ^(E)the gatekeepers in their divisions at each gate, for so David ^(F)the man of God had commanded.

²² But the word of God came to ^(A)Shemaiah the man of God: ²³ “Say to Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the ^(B)rest of the people, ²⁴ ‘Thus says the Lord, You shall not go up or fight against your relatives the people of Israel. Every man return to his home, ^(C)for this thing is from me.’” So they listened to the word of the Lord and went home again, according to the word of the Lord.

²⁷ And there came ^(A)a man of God to Eli and said to him, “Thus says the Lord, ^(B)‘Did I indeed reveal myself to the house of your father when they were in Egypt subject to the house of Pharaoh?

33 This is the blessing with which Moses ^(A)the man of God blessed the people of Israel before his death.
