⁴ “Your father made our yoke heavy; now therefore, lighten the burdensome service of your father and his heavy yoke which he put on us, and we will serve you.”

^3 (A)For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And ^(B)His commandments are not burdensome.

^4 (A)For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.

²⁹ Take My yoke upon you ^(A)and learn from Me, for I am ^[a]gentle and ^(B)lowly in heart, ^(C)and you will find rest for your souls. ^30 (D)For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

²² But of the children of Israel Solomon ^(A)made no forced laborers, because they were men of war and his servants: his officers, his captains, commanders of his chariots, and his cavalry.

^15 (A)Solomon had seventy thousand who carried burdens, and eighty thousand who quarried stone in the mountains,

²⁵ And Judah and Israel ^(A)dwelt^[a] safely, ^(B)each man under his vine and his fig tree, ^(C)from Dan as far as Beersheba, all the days of Solomon.

Prosperity and Wisdom of Solomon’s Reign

²⁰ Judah and Israel were as numerous ^(A)as the sand by the sea in multitude, ^(B)eating and drinking and rejoicing.
