テモテへの最後の命令
4 イエス・キリストには、生きている人にも死んでいる人にも、全ての人を裁く権利がある。イエスは再びこの地上に現れると、イエスは彼の王国を統治するのだ。そして私はそのイエスの前で、そしてまた神の前でお前にこう命じる。
2 全ての人に最高な知らせを伝えなさい！必要に応じて語るべきことをいつでも柔軟に話せるように準備しなさい！人々が過っていることをしているのであれば、それを指摘し、忠告をしなさい。そして、励まし続けるのだ。辛抱強く良い教えをするのだ！
3 真理に耳を貸さない時代がやって来る。人々は自分にとって都合の良いことを言う指導者を求め、そして見つけ出す。 4 彼らは真理を聞くことを止め、間違った物語に耳を傾ける。 5 だから如何なる時も自制心を保つのだ。困難が起きても、その困難を受け入れなさい。神に仕える身として、どんな苦難の嵐の中でも忠誠を尽くし、最高な知らせを伝えるという任務を全うするのだ！
6 私の人生は神への捧げものとして与えられている。そして、ついにここでの人生から去る時が来たのだ。 7 私は神のために忠誠を尽くし、戦いに戦い抜き、人生という名のレースを完走した。 8 そして今、私のために用意された勝者への褒美が目の前にある。それは私が神に認められていることを象徴する冠だ。完全であり、完璧な裁判官、そして王であるイエスが最後の判決の日に与えてくれるものだ。そう！私だけではなく、イエスの帰りを心から楽しみにしている人全員にそれが与えられるのだ！
テモテへの最後のお願い
9 最善を尽くし、何とかして私のところに早く来てほしい！ 10 デマスはこの世に執着しすぎた。だから私を見捨てて、テサロニケ地方に行ってしまったのだ。クレスケンスはガラテヤ地方へ、テトスはダルマテヤ地方へとそれぞれ出かけ、 11 私のもとに残った仲間はルカだけだ。お前がこちらに戻る時、マルコも一緒に連れて来てくれ。ここでの私の仕事を手伝ってもらいたい。 12 テキコも今はここにはいない。港の都エペソへ遣いに送ったからだ。
13 あぁ～、それからついでにここへ来るときに、私の愛用のコートも持って帰ってきてくれ。私がエーゲ海の港町、トロアスのカルポの家へ行った時に置き忘れてしまったのだ。おぉ、それから本もだ！特に羊の皮でできたあの本を持ってきてくれ！
14 金属加工業で働くアレキサンデルのおかげで私はひどい仕打ちを受けた。神が罰してくれることだろうが、 15 彼には気を付けていなさい。彼は私の教えの全てに逆らい反抗してきたのだ。
16 私が自分自身のことを初めて弁解した時、誰も私を応援してくれず、みんな私のもとから去っていった。そして今、私は彼らを許せるようにと神に祈っている。 17 しかし、そんな時も王であるイエスはいつもそばにいてくれた。全ての人が最高な知らせを聞くことができるようにと、王であるイエスが力をくれたのだ。だから私はどこででも、ユダヤ人ではないあらゆる国の人々へと大胆に伝えることができたのだ。死と隣り合わせの状況からも何度も私を救い出してくれた！ 18 神はいつもあらゆる攻撃の手から私を救い出し、無事に天の神の王国へ導き入れてくれるのだ。栄光がいつまでも神のもとにあるように。アーメン。
テモテへの最後のあいさつ
19 プリスカとアクラによろしくと伝えてくれ。またオネシポロの家族にもよろしくと・・・ 20 エラストは港の都コリントにとどまった。そしてトロピモは病気にかかってしまったため、港湾都市ミレトに残して来た。 21 なんとしても冬の時期になる前に私のもとへ来てほしい。ユブロがよろしくとのこと。プデス、リノス、クラウデヤ、そのほかの兄弟、姉妹たちもみんなよろしくとのことだ。
22 テモテよ！王であるイエスがお前の霊と共にあれ！そして神からの恵みが、お前と共にいつもあるように。

Preach the Word
4 I (A)charge you [a]therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, (B)who will judge the living and the dead [b]at His appearing and His kingdom: 2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. (C)Convince, (D)rebuke, (E)exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 (F)For the time will come when they will not endure (G)sound doctrine, (H)but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and (I)be turned aside to fables. 5 But you be watchful in all things, (J)endure afflictions, do the work of (K)an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
Paul’s Valedictory
6 For (L)I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of (M)my departure is at hand. 7 (N)I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Finally, there is laid up for me (O)the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous (P)Judge, will give to me (Q)on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.
The Abandoned Apostle
9 Be diligent to come to me quickly; 10 for (R)Demas has forsaken me, (S)having loved this present world, and has departed for Thessalonica—Crescens for Galatia, Titus for Dalmatia. 11 Only Luke is with me. Get (T)Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for ministry. 12 And (U)Tychicus I have sent to Ephesus. 13 Bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas when you come—and the books, especially the parchments.
14 (V)Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm. May the Lord repay him according to his works. 15 You also must beware of him, for he has greatly resisted our words.
16 At my first defense no one stood with me, but all forsook me. (W)May it not be charged against them.
The Lord Is Faithful
17 (X)But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, (Y)so that the message might be preached fully through me, and that all the Gentiles might hear. Also I was delivered (Z)out of the mouth of the lion. 18 (AA)And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. (AB)To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!
Come Before Winter
19 Greet (AC)Prisca and Aquila, and the household of (AD)Onesiphorus. 20 (AE)Erastus stayed in Corinth, but (AF)Trophimus I have left in Miletus sick.
21 Do your utmost to come before winter.
Eubulus greets you, as well as Pudens, Linus, Claudia, and all the brethren.
Farewell
22 The Lord [c]Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.

4 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead,(A) and in view of his appearing(B) and his kingdom, I give you this charge:(C) 2 Preach(D) the word;(E) be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke(F) and encourage(G)—with great patience and careful instruction. 3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine.(H) Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.(I) 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.(J) 5 But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship,(K) do the work of an evangelist,(L) discharge all the duties of your ministry.

9 Do your best to come to me quickly,(U) 10 for Demas,(V) because he loved this world,(W) has deserted me and has gone to Thessalonica.(X) Crescens has gone to Galatia,(Y) and Titus(Z) to Dalmatia. 11 Only Luke(AA) is with me.(AB) Get Mark(AC) and bring him with you, because he is helpful to me in my ministry. 12 I sent Tychicus(AD) to Ephesus.(AE) 13 When you come, bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas,(AF) and my scrolls, especially the parchments.
14 Alexander(AG) the metalworker did me a great deal of harm. The Lord will repay him for what he has done.(AH) 15 You too should be on your guard against him, because he strongly opposed our message.
16 At my first defense, no one came to my support, but everyone deserted me. May it not be held against them.(AI) 17 But the Lord stood at my side(AJ) and gave me strength,(AK) so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it.(AL) And I was delivered from the lion’s mouth.(AM) 18 The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack(AN) and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom.(AO) To him be glory for ever and ever. 4 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
