(A)Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, just as the house of Ahab had done, for he had the daughter of (B)Ahab as a wife; and he did evil in the sight of the Lord. Yet the Lord would not destroy the house of David, because of the (C)covenant that He had made with David, and since He had promised to give a lamp to him and to his (D)sons forever.

He followed the ways of the kings of Israel,(A) as the house of Ahab had done, for he married a daughter of Ahab.(B) He did evil in the eyes of the Lord. Nevertheless, because of the covenant the Lord had made with David,(C) the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David.(D) He had promised to maintain a lamp(E) for him and his descendants forever.
