Personal Instructions
9 Do your best to come to me soon, 10 for Demas, in love with this present world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica; Crescens has gone to Galatia,[a] Titus to Dalmatia. 11 Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful in my ministry. 12 I have sent Tychicus to Ephesus. 13 When you come, bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas, also the books, and above all the parchments. 14 Alexander the coppersmith did me great harm; the Lord will pay him back for his deeds. 15 You also must beware of him, for he strongly opposed our message.
16 At my first defense no one came to my support, but all deserted me. May it not be counted against them! 17 But the Lord stood by me and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. So I was rescued from the lion’s mouth. 18 The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and save me for his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
Final Greetings and Benediction
19 Greet Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus. 20 Erastus remained in Corinth; Trophimus I left ill in Miletus. 21 Do your best to come before winter. Eubulus sends greetings to you, as do Pudens and Linus and Claudia and all the brothers and sisters.[b]
22 The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with you.[c]

14 Alessandro, il ramaio, mi ha procurato molti mali. Il Signore gli renderà[b] secondo le sue opere. 15 Guàrdati anche tu da lui, perché egli si è opposto violentemente alle nostre parole.
16 Nella mia prima difesa nessuno si è trovato al mio fianco, ma tutti mi hanno abbandonato; ciò non venga loro imputato! 17 Il Signore però mi ha assistito e mi ha reso forte, affinché per mezzo mio il messaggio fosse pienamente proclamato e lo ascoltassero tutti i pagani; e sono stato liberato dalle fauci del leone. 18 Il Signore mi libererà da ogni azione malvagia e mi salverà nel suo regno celeste. A lui sia la gloria nei secoli dei secoli. Amen.

10 Denn Demas hat mich verlassen, weil er die jetzige Weltzeit lieb gewonnen hat, und ist nach Thessalonich gezogen, Crescens nach Galatien, Titus nach Dalmatien.
11 Nur Lukas ist bei mir. Nimm Markus zu dir und bringe ihn mit; denn er ist mir sehr nützlich zum Dienst.
12 Tychikus aber habe ich nach Ephesus gesandt.
13 Den Reisemantel, den ich in Troas bei Karpus ließ, bringe mit, wenn du kommst; auch die Bücher, besonders die Pergamente.
14 Alexander, der Schmied, hat mir viel Böses erwiesen; der Herr vergelte ihm nach seinen Werken!
15 Vor ihm hüte auch du dich; denn er hat unseren Worten sehr widerstanden.
16 Bei meiner ersten Verteidigung[a] stand mir niemand bei, sondern alle verließen mich; es werde ihnen nicht angerechnet!
17 Der Herr aber stand mir bei und stärkte mich, damit durch mich die Verkündigung völlig ausgerichtet würde und alle Heiden sie hören könnten; und so wurde ich erlöst aus dem Rachen des Löwen.
18 Der Herr wird mich auch von jedem boshaften Werk erlösen und mich in sein himmlisches Reich retten. Ihm sei die Ehre von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit! Amen.

13 Lorsque tu viendras, rapporte-moi le manteau que j’ai laissé à Troas chez Carpus, ainsi que les livres, surtout les parchemins[f].
14 Alexandre[g], l’orfèvre, a fait preuve de beaucoup de méchanceté à mon égard. Le Seigneur lui donnera ce que lui auront valu ses actes[h]. 15 Toi aussi, garde-toi de lui, car il s’est opposé avec acharnement à notre prédication.

16 La première fois que j’ai eu à présenter ma défense au tribunal, personne n’est venu m’assister, tous m’ont abandonné. Qu’il ne leur en soit pas tenu rigueur. 17 C’est le Seigneur qui m’a assisté et m’a donné la force d’annoncer pleinement le message pour qu’il soit entendu par tous les non-Juifs. Et j’ai été délivré de la gueule du lion.
18 Le Seigneur continuera à me délivrer de toute entreprise mauvaise et me sauvera pour son royaume céleste. A lui soit la gloire pour l’éternité. Amen.

19 Salue Prisca, Aquilas et la famille d’Onésiphore. 20 Eraste[i] est resté à Corinthe. Quant à Trophime, il était malade et je l’ai laissé à Milet.
