13 When you come, bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas,(A) and my scrolls, especially the parchments.

14 Alexander(B) the metalworker did me a great deal of harm. The Lord will repay him for what he has done.(C) 15 You too should be on your guard against him, because he strongly opposed our message.

16 At my first defense, no one came to my support, but everyone deserted me. May it not be held against them.(D) 17 But the Lord stood at my side(E) and gave me strength,(F) so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it.(G) And I was delivered from the lion’s mouth.(H) 18 The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack(I) and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom.(J) To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen.(K)

14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:

15 Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.

16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.

17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
