Consider what I say, and [a]may the Lord (A)give you understanding in all things.

Remember that Jesus Christ, (B)of the seed of David, (C)was raised from the dead (D)according to my gospel, (E)for which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, (F)even to the point of chains; (G)but the word of God is not chained. 10 Therefore (H)I endure all things for the sake of the [b]elect, (I)that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

11 This is a faithful saying:

For (J)if we died with Him,
We shall also live with Him.
12 (K)If we endure,
We shall also reign with Him.
(L)If we deny Him,
He also will deny us.
13 If we are faithless,
He remains faithful;
He (M)cannot deny Himself.

Consider what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.

Keep your attention on Jesus Christ as risen from the dead(A) and descended from David. This is according to my gospel. I suffer for it to the point of being bound like a criminal, but God’s message is not bound. 10 This is why I endure(B) all things for the elect:(C) so that they also may obtain salvation, which is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.(D) 11 This saying is trustworthy:(E)

For if we have died with Him,(F)
we will also live with Him;
12 if we endure, we will also reign(G) with Him;
if we deny Him, He will also deny us;
13 if we are faithless, He remains faithful,
for He cannot deny Himself.

Think about what I am saying, for the Lord will enable you to understand everything.

Remember Yeshua the Messiah, who was raised from the dead, who was a descendant of David. This is the Good News I proclaim, and for which I am suffering to the point of being bound in chains — but the Word of God is not bound in chains! 10 Why do I persevere through it all? For the sake of those who have been chosen, so that they too may obtain the deliverance that comes through the Messiah Yeshua, with eternal glory. 11 Here is a statement you can trust:

If we have died with him,
    we will also live with him.
12 If we persevere,
    we will also rule with him

If we disown him,
    he will also disown us.
13 If we are faithless,
    he remains faithful,
    for he cannot disown himself.
