2 And the things which you heard from me through many witnesses, these things deposit[a] with faithful people who will be competent[b] to teach others also. 3 Suffer-hardship with me like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

4 No one while serving-as-a-soldier entangles himself in the affairs of life, in order that he may please the one having enlisted him.

2 And the things you have heard me say(A) in the presence of many witnesses(B) entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others. 3 Join with me in suffering,(C) like a good soldier(D) of Christ Jesus. 4 No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer.
