For the mystery of lawlessness doth already work: [a]only there is one that restraineth now, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall be revealed the lawless one, whom the Lord [b]Jesus shall [c]slay with the breath of his mouth, and bring to nought by the manifestation of his [d]coming; even he, whose [e]coming is according to the working of Satan with all [f]power and signs and lying wonders, 10 and with all deceit of unrighteousness for them that [g]perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God sendeth them a working of error, that they should believe a lie: 12 that they all might be judged who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

13 But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, for that God chose you [h]from the beginning unto salvation in sanctification of the Spirit and [i]belief of the truth:

For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back(A) will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed,(B) whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth(C) and destroy by the splendor of his coming.(D) The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan(E) works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders(F) that serve the lie, 10 and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing.(G) They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.(H) 11 For this reason God sends them(I) a powerful delusion(J) so that they will believe the lie(K) 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.(L)

Stand Firm

13 But we ought always to thank God for you,(M) brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits[a](N) to be saved(O) through the sanctifying work of the Spirit(P) and through belief in the truth.
