⁵ “Go and say to My servant David, ‘Thus says Yahweh, “^(A)Are you the one who would build Me a house to inhabit?

² Then King David rose to his feet and said, “Listen to me, my brothers and my people; I ^(A)had it within my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of Yahweh and for ^(B)the footstool of the feet of our God. So I had made preparations to build it. ³ But God said to me, ‘^(C)You shall not build a house for My name because you are a man of war and have shed blood.’
