^12 (A)When your days are finished and you ^[a](B)lie down with your fathers, ^(C)I will raise up your ^[b]descendant after you, who will come from ^[c]you, and I will establish his kingdom. ^13 (D)He shall build a house for My name, and ^(E)I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. ^14 (F)I will be a father to him and he will be a son to Me; ^(G)when he does wrong, I will discipline him with a rod of men and with strokes of sons of mankind, ¹⁵ but My favor shall not depart from him, ^(H)as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from you. ^16 (I)Your house and your kingdom shall endure before ^[d]Me forever; your throne shall be established forever.”’”

¹¹ When your days are fulfilled that you must ^[a]go to be with your fathers, then I will set up one of your ^[b]descendants after you, who will be from your sons; and I will establish his kingdom. ¹² He shall build for Me a house, and I will establish his throne forever. ^13 (A)I will be his father and he shall be My son; and I will not take My favor away from him, ^(B)as I took it from him who was before you. ¹⁴ But I will settle him in My house and in My kingdom forever, and his throne will be established forever.”’”

¹⁶ Now then, Lord, God of Israel, keep to Your servant David, my father, that which You ^[a]promised him, saying, ‘^[b](A)You shall not lack a man to sit on the throne of Israel, if only your sons pay attention to their way, to walk in My Law as you have walked before Me.’
