23 Araunah gives all this to the king.” And Araunah said, “May the Lord your God be pleased with your gift.” 24 But the king said to Araunah, “No, I will buy it from you for a price. I will not give burnt gifts to the Lord my God which I do not pay for.” So David bought the grain-floor and the bulls for fifty pieces of silver. 25 And David built an altar there to the Lord. He gave burnt gifts and peace gifts. So the Lord listened to the prayers for the land, and stopped the disease in Israel.

23 Your Majesty, Araunah[a] gives(A) all this to the king.” Araunah also said to him, “May the Lord your God accept you.”

24 But the king replied to Araunah, “No, I insist on paying you for it. I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.”(B)

So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen and paid fifty shekels[b](C) of silver for them. 25 David built an altar(D) to the Lord there and sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. Then the Lord answered his prayer(E) in behalf of the land, and the plague on Israel was stopped.
