2 Samuel 22:40-51

New International Version

⁴⁰ You armed me with strength for battle;
    you humbled my adversaries before me.^(A)
41 You made my enemies turn their backs^(B) in flight,
    and I destroyed my foes.
⁴² They cried for help,^(C) but there was no one to save them—^(D)
    to the Lord, but he did not answer.^(E)
43 I beat them as fine as the dust^(F) of the earth;
    I pounded and trampled^(G) them like mud^(H) in the streets.

⁴⁴ “You have delivered^(I) me from the attacks of the peoples;
    you have preserved^(J) me as the head of nations.
People^(K) I did not know now serve me,
⁴⁵     foreigners cower^(L) before me;
    as soon as they hear of me, they obey me.^(M)
46 They all lose heart;
    they come trembling^[a](N) from their strongholds.

⁴⁷ “The Lord lives! Praise be to my Rock!
    Exalted^(O) be my God, the Rock, my Savior!^(P)
48 He is the God who avenges^(Q) me,^(R)
    who puts the nations under me,
⁴⁹     who sets me free from my enemies.^(S)
You exalted me^(T) above my foes;
    from a violent man you rescued me.
⁵⁰ Therefore I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;
    I will sing the praises^(U) of your name.^(V)

⁵¹ “He gives his king great victories;^(W)
    he shows unfailing kindness to his anointed,^(X)
    to David^(Y) and his descendants forever.”^(Z)
