Then David came to his house at Jerusalem, and (A)the king took the ten women, the concubines whom he had left to keep the house, and placed them under guard and provided them with sustenance, but did not go in to them. So they were shut up until the day of their death, living as widows.

Then the king said to (B)Amasa, “Call out the men of Judah for me within three days, and be present here yourself.” So Amasa went to call out the men of Judah, but he (C)delayed longer than the set time which he had appointed him.

When David returned to his palace in Jerusalem, he took the ten concubines(A) he had left to take care of the palace and put them in a house under guard. He provided for them but had no sexual relations with them. They were kept in confinement till the day of their death, living as widows.

Then the king said to Amasa,(B) “Summon the men of Judah to come to me within three days, and be here yourself.” But when Amasa went to summon Judah, he took longer than the time the king had set for him.
