Joab Fights Ammon
26 (A)Then Joab fought against (B)Rabbah of the sons of Ammon and captured the royal city. 27 And Joab sent messengers to David and said, “I have fought against Rabbah, I have even captured the city of waters. 28 So now, gather the rest of the people together and camp against the city and capture it, lest I capture the city myself and it be named after me.” 29 So David gathered all the people and went to Rabbah, fought against it and captured it.

New International Version
26 Meanwhile Joab fought against Rabbah(A) of the Ammonites and captured the royal citadel. 27 Joab then sent messengers to David, saying, “I have fought against Rabbah and taken its water supply. 28 Now muster the rest of the troops and besiege the city and capture it. Otherwise I will take the city, and it will be named after me.”
29 So David mustered the entire army and went to Rabbah, and attacked and captured it.

“That I will cause a [a](A)trumpet blast of war to be heard
Against (B)Rabbah of the sons of Ammon;
And it will become a desolate heap,
And her (C)towns will be set on fire.
Then Israel will take (D)possession of his possessors,”
Says Yahweh.
3 “Wail, O (E)Heshbon, for (F)Ai has been destroyed!
Cry out, O daughters of Rabbah,
(G)Gird yourselves with sackcloth and lament,
And rush back and forth inside the walls;
For [b]Malcam will (H)go into exile
Together with his priests and his princes.

Put on sackcloth(G) and mourn;
rush here and there inside the walls,
for Molek(H) will go into exile,(I)
together with his priests and officials.
