¹⁰ But the remainder of the people he put in the hand of Abishai his brother; and he arranged them to meet the sons of Ammon.

¹⁴ Now the sons of Ammon saw that the Arameans fled. So they also fled before Abishai and came into the city. ^(A)Then Joab returned from fighting against the sons of Ammon and came to Jerusalem.

² And David sent the people out, ^(A)one-third under the hand of Joab, one-third under the hand of Abishai the son of Zeruiah, Joab’s brother, and one-third under the hand of ^(B)Ittai the Gittite. And the king said to the people, “I myself will surely go out with you also.”
