And (A)in their greed they will exploit you (B)with false words. (C)Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

For if God did not spare (D)angels when they sinned, but (E)cast them into hell[a] and committed them to chains[b] of gloomy darkness (F)to be kept until the judgment; if he did not spare the ancient world, but (G)preserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven others, when he brought (H)a flood upon the world of the ungodly; if by (I)turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes he condemned them to extinction, (J)making them an example of (K)what is going to happen to the ungodly;[c] and (L)if he rescued righteous Lot, greatly distressed by the sensual conduct of the wicked (for as that righteous man lived among them day after day, (M)he was tormenting his righteous soul over their lawless deeds that he saw and heard); then (N)the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials,[d] and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment,

In their greed(A) these teachers will exploit you(B) with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.

For if God did not spare angels when they sinned,(C) but sent them to hell,[a] putting them in chains of darkness[b] to be held for judgment;(D) if he did not spare the ancient world(E) when he brought the flood on its ungodly people,(F) but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others;(G) if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes,(H) and made them an example(I) of what is going to happen to the ungodly;(J) and if he rescued Lot,(K) a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless(L) (for that righteous man,(M) living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)— if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials(N) and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment.(O)
