26 (A) After that, the army officers and all the people in Mizpah, whether important or not, were afraid of what the Babylonians might do. So they left Judah and went to Egypt.
Jehoiachin Is Set Free
(Jeremiah 52.31-34)
27 Jehoiachin was a prisoner in Babylon for 37 years. Then Evil-Merodach became king of Babylonia,[a] and in the first year of his rule, on the twenty-seventh day of the twelfth month,[b] he let Jehoiachin out of prison. 28 Evil-Merodach was kind to Jehoiachin and honored him more than any of the other kings held prisoner there.

New International Version
26 At this, all the people from the least to the greatest, together with the army officers, fled to Egypt(A) for fear of the Babylonians.
Jehoiachin Released(B)
27 In the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the year Awel-Marduk became king of Babylon, he released Jehoiachin(C) king of Judah from prison. He did this on the twenty-seventh day of the twelfth month. 28 He spoke kindly(D) to him and gave him a seat of honor(E) higher than those of the other kings who were with him in Babylon.
