² And the Lord sent against him ^(A)bands of Chaldeans, ^(B)bands of Arameans, ^(C)bands of Moabites, and bands of Ammonites. He sent them against Judah to destroy it, ^(D)in accordance with the word of the Lord which He had spoken through His servants the prophets.

¹⁷ While he was still speaking, another came and said, “The ^(A)Chaldeans formed three units and made a raid on the camels and took them, and ^[a]killed the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”

¹³ Behold, the land of the Chaldeans—this is the people that did not exist; ^(A)Assyria allocated it for ^(B)desert creatures—they erected their siege towers, they stripped its palaces, ^(C)they made it a ruin.
