Zedekiah Made King

^17 (A)Then the king of Babylon made ^[a]his uncle Mattaniah king in his place, and changed his name to Zedekiah.

²⁰ For it was ^(A)due to the anger of the Lord that this happened in Jerusalem and Judah, until He cast them out of His presence. And ^(B)Zedekiah revolted against the king of Babylon.

⁵⁹ For this is what the Lord God says: “I will also do with you as you have done, you who have ^(A)despised the oath by breaking the covenant.

¹³ Then he took one of the royal ^[a](A)family and made a covenant with him, ^[b]putting him under ^(B)oath. He also took away the ^(C)mighty of the land,

¹⁸ Now he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, and behold, he ^[a](A)pledged his allegiance, yet did all these things; he shall not escape.’” ¹⁹ Therefore, this is what the Lord God says: “As I live, My oath which he despised and My covenant which he broke, I will certainly ^[b]inflict on his head.
